Standard Life Investments: Fund Alert – GILB Takes Gold

The Standard Life Investments Global Index Linked Bond Fund (GILB) has been awarded a Gold rating by S&P Capital IQ.

Actively managed by a three-strong team and led by Jonathan Gibbs, who has over 20 years’ investment experience, the award recognises the Fund’s depth of resource and rigorous investment approach. S&P notes that “Gibbs and his team have considerable experience in the asset class and can draw on some other well-resourced teams. The solid process has been in place for some time.”

The Fund aims to provide long-term growth from both capital appreciation and income, by investing predominantly in sovereign and corporate inflation linked bonds. In addition, S&P described GILB as “a rare product in the UK, a global inflation linked fund hedged back into sterling”. This highlights one of the Fund’s key differentiating features, namely its ability to take advantage of a global spectrum of investment opportunities without exposing investors to unwanted currency risk.
